Ambrose believed deeply in education, mentorship, and helping others find their way forward. He knew firsthand the dedication, sacrifice, and financial commitment it takes to become a paramedic, and he spent his career supporting the people who chose to answer that call.
The Ambrose “The Legend” Stevens Memorial Scholarship carries that commitment forward by helping aspiring paramedics overcome financial barriers as they complete their education and training.
Who Can Apply
The Ambrose “The Legend” Stevens Memorial Scholarship supports students pursuing paramedic education through one of our eligible partner programs. Applicants must be currently enrolled in one of the programs listed here to apply.
Priority Consideration
As part of our commitment to expanding opportunity in paramedicine, priority consideration may be given to applicants who have experienced financial hardship, were raised by or are currently a single parent, or come from historically underrepresented backgrounds. These factors are considered as part of the overall application and are not required to apply.

Sheralyn Rock
Ventura College | 2025 Scholarship Recipient
Sheralyn Rock began her journey in EMS more than two decades ago, but put her dream of becoming a paramedic on hold to raise her family. Fifteen years later, she returned to EMS and ultimately came full circle at the Ventura College Paramedic Program, believing in the power of knowing that anyone can start over at any time when there’s a goal to be achieved. She hopes to carry that journey forward by providing compassionate patient care and one day teaching future generations of paramedics.
Mia's passion for EMS started early: by 14, she was already running practice calls through an app on her phone, inspired by her paramedic mom and the EMS professionals she grew up around. Today, she’s turning that childhood calling into a career as an EMT with AMR, a volunteer with two fire departments, and a paramedic student. Mia hopes to become the kind of paramedic who sees the person behind every emergency, bringing compassion, calm, and genuine care to the people she serves.

Financial support for students enrolled in one of our eligible paramedic programs. Funds may be used toward tuition and other education-related expenses.
Award amounts may vary by scholarship cycle.

2 Submit a personal essay (750 words or less) introducing yourself, sharing what drives your passion for patient care, why you want to become a paramedic, and how becoming a paramedic would impact your life and the communities you hope to serve.
3 Include one letter of recommendation.
